Allison was selected as the winner of James Lewis Howe Award from the Department of Biochemistry for this year. These awards are given by the Virginia Blue Ridge Section of the American Chemical Society, with awards being given to an outstanding student in each of the chemically-related departments at colleges and universities within the Virginia Blue Ridge Section. Dr. Sobrado was invited to talk to prospective students at the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at Texas A&M about the graduate program.
We happy to welcome Dr. Kizjakina as a postdoc in our group. Dr. Kizjakina received her PhD in Chemistry from VT in the laboratory of Dr. Theresa Reineke in January 2011. She will be working with the UGM enzymes
David is a undergraduate student at the Coata Rica Institute of Technology. He received a fellowship from the National Center for Science and Technology to study the effect of pH on the reaction catalyzed by ornithine hydroxylase.
Dr. Sobrado will give a seminar at the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
